Caesars Palace celebrates their 50th anniversary

On the 5th of August 1966, Caesars Palace opened its doors for the first time in Las Vegas with a celebration that lasted for days. Now, 50 years later, the land-based casino is still going strong and they plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary in style!

With a staggering milestone such as a 50th anniversary within reach, we can only imagine the sheer scale of celebrations that are being planned. The party for this golden birthday will start in June and run until the 5th of August 2016.
 

The history of Caesar Palace

The land-based casino giant has a rich and lavish history. Designed by Jay Sarno, the casino took only one year to build and when it opened, the Roman-themed casino was a fantasy land with a 14-story hotel tower, and 680 rooms. Many years later, Caesars Palace has undergone many facelifts and will probably continue to do so as time goes on. Caesars Palace now hosts almost 4000 rooms, 630 suites and villas, and has housed many of the most rich and famous celebrities from around the world.

Stars such as Aretha Franklin, Judy Garland, and The Beach Boys have all performed at Caesars. Superstars the likes of Sir Elton John, Bette Midler, and so many more have all graced the stages of this casino. Celine Dion has performed so often at Caesar’s Palace that she’s quickly closing in on her 1000th show at the casino, and she will be celebrating this feat as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations!
